De Djawatan is a tourist forest located in Benculuk, Cluring, Banyuwangi Regency. The trees in De Djawatan are rain trees filled with epiphytic plants. Visitors often take photos against the backdrop of these trees.
In 2017, this place went viral on social media and was visited by many people, but at that time, it was still a wood storage area for Perhutani. After considering the tourism potential of the site, the Banyuwangi Regency Tourism Office, in collaboration with the Banyuwangi Forest Management Unit (KPH) as the landowner, officially opened De Djawatan as a tourist destination in June 2018.
The Djawatan is dominated by rain trees (Samanea saman), with around 805 trees that are approximately 100-150 years old (one and a half centuries) and have grown since the Dutch colonial era. These rain trees are covered with moss, epiphytes, and various ferns along their branches. Additionally, there are endemic birds and several other wildlife species that live here.
